ACCOUNT ACTIVATION

1. How do I set up my Trial Teaching Strategies (TTS) account?
You will need the Sales Order # and Customer # from the packing list or invoice that was included with your order. (If your order was placed before November 1, 2006, you will need your Pending Order # and Account #.) If you cannot locate this information, please contact PRO-ED Customer Service at 800.897.3202.

Activation of your account can be done in 7 easy steps:

Step 1: On the
www.DAR-TTS.com homepage, select New Customer.

Step 2: Select Activate Account using Order Information, then indicate whether you accept the TTS License Agreeement.

Step 3: If the date on your packing list or invoice is before Novemeber 1, 2006, enter your Pending Order # and Account # in the fields provided.

If the date on your packing list or invoice is after Novemeber 1, 2006, enter your Sales Order # and Customer # in the fields provided.

Step 4:
Enter the requested administrative contact information for your account, and review it for accuracy. A valid e-mail address is required. You need to enter at least one account administrator but may enter up to three. (Account administrators will receive information related to your account, including your account’s software license key.)

Step 5: Your account admnistrator(s) will receive an e-mail with a unique software license key that enables your account’s users to register.

Step 6: Your account administrator(s) should distribute this license key to the appropriate individuals by simply forwarding the e-mail to them.

Step 7: Once individual users have this license key, they can register their unique user names and passwords at www.DAR-TTS.com. After registration, users log on to the website and begin to use TTS.

If you experience any difficulties, please contact PRO-ED Customer Service at 800.897.3202.

3. When should I receive my account’s license key?
After you activate your TTS account by entering order information and setting up your account administrator(s), the administrator(s) will receive an e-mail from PRO-ED that includes your account’s license key.

The e-mail will also provide directions for creating user names and passwords. Account administrators should forward the license key e-mail to those individuals they intend to authorize as their licensed users.

If you are unable to locate this e-mail, contact PRO-ED Software Support at 800.897.3202.

INDIVIDUAL USER REGISTRATION

4. How do I set up a user name and password?
After activating your TTS account, your account administrator(s) should have received an e-mail that includes your account’s software license key. You will need the license key to register as a user. (If you do not have the license key yet, see
5. How do I get a software license key? below.)

To register, follow these 4 steps:

Step 1: On the www.DAR-TTS.com homepage, select New Customer.

Step 2: Copy and paste the software license key into the License Key field (this will identify you as an authorized user for your account) then click Submit.

Step 3: Indicate whether you accept the TTS License Agreement.

Step 4: Enter a user name, password, and the required contact information, then click Register.

5. How do I get a software license key?
A software license key is e-mailed to the account administrator(s) when an account is activated. (For activation instructions, see 1. How do I set up my Trial Teaching Strategies (TTS) account? above.) One software license key will apply to all orders in a particular account, even those added at a later date.

Your account administrator(s) will need to forward the license key to individual users. Check with your account administrator(s) if you haven’t received the license key yet.

If your account has already been activated and you have the two numbers from your packing slip or invoice, you can have your account’s license key e-mailed directly to you. Go to License Key Distribution and follow the instructions on that page.

If you have trouble obtaining your license key, contact PRO-ED Software Support at 800.897.3202.

6. Who are the administrators for my account?
Generally, the administrators for a particular account will be the purchasers (such as individual teachers, schools, or districts) who placed the order. Account administrators are responsible for activating the account and/or distributing their account's software license key to individual users.

If your order was placed as part of an existing, active account, your account administrators will already be in place. (Account administrators are set up as part of the account activation process; an account only needs to be activated once.)

If you do not know who your account administrators are, please contact PRO-ED Software Support at 800.897.3202 so we can help put you in touch with them.

8. I was able to register a user name and password, but I still don’t have access. What should I do?
If you were able to register but received an error message, your account has reached its maximum number of users. Please contact your account administrator(s) to request access for additional users.

If you are the administrator for your account, you will need to contact PRO-ED Customer Service at 800.897.3202 to purchase access for additional users.

USING THE TTS

9. What level of readers does the TTS address?
The TTS is designed to address the needs of struggling readers from Kindergarten through adult. Readers performing at or above expectation for their age or grade level do not need TTS.

10. When should I use TTS?
TTS should be used after the administration of the Diagnostic Assessments of Reading (DAR). Use a student’s DAR results to locate the appropriate TTS on this website. Simply print the strategy directions and materials, gather any ancillary materials, and meet with the student to try the strategies. As you and the student discuss which strategies are effective, you can plan how to incorporate these strategies in future instruction and class work.

11. If I select Enter DAR Results, do I need to enter results from ALL the subtests?
No, you should enter only the student’s DAR results in areas of concern—areas in which the student had difficulty or performed below expectation.

12. Do the TTS cards and picture sheets need to be printed in color?
No, the functionality of the materials is not affected by whether the materials are printed in color. The illustrations are designed to print clearly even if printed in black and white. You may wish to print items such as Word Cards on card stock to increase durability.

13. Some of the strategy instructions have odd spacing. How can I fix this?
Some browsers are less compatible with the formatting of the TTS. We recommend that the site be viewed with Internet Explorer (PC) or Safari (Mac).

14. Which materials do I need in order to use TTS with my student?
You will need the directions for the strategy, which are available in printer-friendly format. Each strategy will have a link to the materials you need to download for that strategy. The strategy directions will indicate which additional materials (e.g., a dictionary) may be needed. If the lesson involves printed flash cards, you will need scissors to separate them and may wish to print them on card stock. In general, it will be useful to have writing implements and extra paper for you and your student.

15. How can I keep track of the TTS I used with my student?
A Summary Student Record Form is available to download on the Using the TTS page under the "About the TTS" menu.

16. Can I make photocopies of TTS materials? What am I allowed to do with TTS materials and website content?
Per the license agreement that all users must accept before receiving site access, you may print multiple copies and/or make photocopies for use with students in your organization.

You may not

  • Copy or e-mail any TTS content or materials to any third parties,
  • Resell any TTS content or materials for material gain, or
  • Allow others to use your user name and password.

17. What if I leave my school? Can I still use TTS?
If the license belongs to the school you left, you or your new school will need to purchase TTS access.
